As the others regroup, Kikimora attacks them again and they hold off her attacks before the students of Hexside appear to support them long enough to activate the teleportation glyph. Hunter doesn’t interact much with the students and feels embarrassed being introduced to everyone by Gus, instead he bides his time waiting for Luz to find the memory of her witnessing the teleportation glyph being used by Belos to enter the Titan’s skull. Hunter realize his decision of hiding who he is and not trusting them led to this, Hunter to go after them in a panic, only to be knocked out by Boscha. In "Labyrinth Runners", Hunter has been living at Hexside since he ran away and is found by Gus. Gus asks Hunter if he knows where Luz is, he surprised and worried that Luz isn't with Eda and is missing.

He later discovered that he inherited Flapjack's powers and eventually erected a memorial to honor Flapjack for helping him find his own path. At the Halloween Festival, Hunter, Gus, Amity, Willow, and Luz explore the festival when they come across the haunted hayride where the guide tells them the story of the Wittebane brothers where he learns he was based on Belos' older brother Caleb. A week before the Day of Unity, Hunter is scouting out Bonesborough when he sees three figures trying to enter his uncle's mind. They fall through a painting and find themselves in a forest of dead trees with memory paintings on them.
